Reisverslag Time flies!

Monday (26-09) I had to work from 8 till about 7. It was a long day, but a good one! In the evening I had my first session with Tadgh. I have to say I was a bit nervous, because despite talking for about an hour last week, we didn’t really discuss how the training would look haha. We went to a Crossfit gym where Tadgh works, which is about 10 min drive. Oh did I mention that he picks me up and drives me home? Yeah, I know.. I have an awesome trainer! The first session wasn’t bad at all! There were a lot of exercises that I did at home, so I could impress with that a little haha.
Tuesday I had the morning off, so I did some laundry. First time making a 2 person bed was a little bit of a challenge, but I got it done. In the afternoon I took the 3 boys to the playground, which is about a 15-20 min walk. Iarlaith goes in the buggy and I gave Naiouse en Conaill the choice to hold on to the buggy or hold hands. They did a little of both and the walk there and back went really well. They got home in one piece so that’s good. After the boys had dinner, Katie took them to the store and Katie and I had dinner after. I watched American Horror Story on their TV, while eating chocolate. Katie bought it at the store for me! So nice! She only had one request, that I keep it in my room. But not because of the kids, but she said it wouldn’t make it through the night if I didn’t haha. After that I thought I take a lovely shower. Which it was… until I slipped, grapped the rod that holds the shower head and pulled it out of the wall. Yeah… that happened.. So I still fell AND broke the shower in one go. I felt so bad!
So in the morning I went down and told Kevin that I broke the shower. He asked if I was okay (besides a bruise the size of Germany on my ass I was) and went up to look at the damage. When he came down he said it was a 2 min fix haha, but that would mean no pay for this week! Obviously he said that with a smile, so that made me feel a lot better! I worked from 12 till 6 and told Katie the shower story when she got home. She said that she heard a bang, but heard movement after, so she thought I was okay. She was wondering if she should have come to take a look, but I said that that was okay. Can you imagine? A highly pregnant host mom pulling her naked au pair out of the shower? Yeah.. so luckily we both were spared that! But we got a good laugh out of it! She is so funny!
In the evening I went to the pub again for the au pair meeting. It was fun! There was an awkward silence sometimes haha, but fun nonetheless. The only weird thing is that there are a lot of Spanish au pairs, who speak Spanish the whole time. So… we don’t really talk to them, since I literally can’t.
Thursday I had the day off! Short work week haha. DIdn’t really do much.. I did Skype with mommy, which was good! I worked out with Tadgh at 3.30PM. Good work-out, heavy on the arms though. At dinner I just talked with Katie and Kevin for a bit and watched some shows after.
Friday I was off again! So I decided to do something this time. Kevin had to go to fysio at 9, so I watched the boys for an hour. I went to Cork at 11.40 by bus. I wanted to visit the jail museum, called Cork City Gaol, they have there. Google maps said that it would take about 25 min by bus, which contained a 13 min walk. So I decided to walk the whole way. I kinda underestimated the climb up, so it took me about 35 min to get there haha. I did an audio tour there, which I enjoyed. After walking back down I enjoyed a Starbucks and was building up the courage to go into Penny’s. I got there, walked to the first rack and already 5 people bumped into me. So I got my cotton pads and clear nail polish and went to the register. Shopping for clothes would have let to blood shed probably, so I wisely didn’t do that. I made my way to the bus station. The bus that I normally take to Mallow, goes all the way to Galway (which is a populair destination). So all the Mallow people had to take another bus, which took me longer to get home. But since I didn’t really have any plans before dinner, I waited patiently. After a lovely dinner I went to a restaurant called the Gallery. I met Marine (French, 23) and Lara (German, 18) for drinks there. A friend of Lara’s came as well. It was fun! We had some ciders and after Marine took us home in the car. She could borrow it from her host family.
On Saturday I went to Costa with Ayleen and Nathalie. Ayleen had never been there, so we had to get rid of that virgin status. It’s always really crowded there, it’s a favourite spot to take the kids as well. After that we went to check out the tattoo shop here in Mallow. Don’t worry! Just checking! But it was super weird! First of all it was really small, as in my room in the Netherlands small. And the guy seemed like he was annoyed, so it wasn’t really a good fit. On top of that, he was actually tattooing a guy right there. The whole vibe was weird.
In the evening we decided to check out one of Mallow’s restaurants. Katie told me about Bella’s Café, which has a BYO (bring your own) policy for alcohol. It sounded so weird, but I wanted to try it. And the food was Italian, good and not expensive. Ayleen, Nathalie, Lara and I were going, so we decided to go to a supermarket to buy alcohol first. We went to the restaurant and kinda looked around to see if other people brought their own drinks as well. When we went, there weren’t that many people there. So we ordered our food, I got a pizza. After a little bit more people came in with drinks, so we decided to get our cans of Cider out. Next time we will probably chose wine, since most people did that haha. It was a good experience! We didn’t want to go home yet, so we went to Alberts for a drink after. It was pretty busy, which was good. Just the average age was a little high.. We did have a good time and went home around 12.
On Sunday I was supposed to go to Kilkenny with Paddywagon tours, but when Stephanie (Austrian, 17) wanted to book it, it was full. We didn’t really make any other plans, so when Ayleen asked to go to Cork I said yes. Her host mom was going anyway, so we could go with her in the car. We went to lunch first, which she paid for (really nice!!). After that Ayleen and I walked around and did some shopping. I did window shopping, because I was out of money. We did book a tour of Ring of Kerry for the 16th of October. We got back around 3.30PM. I watched some shows in the evening.
As always, thanks for the messages :D!
