Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were normal working days. I worked from 10 to 18.30ish. Nothing special to report.
On Thursday I had to work an hour in the morning and then it was off to Dublin! I walked into town around 10.30AM to get some drinks and food for the train and I had the train at 11.40. I was in Dublin around 2 and got the tram to the hostel. This stopped pretty much in front of the hostel and only took 12 minutes, so that was great! I was checking in and send Lobke a message that I was, when she appeared in front of me. It was so nice to see her and that she came to Ireland to visit me! After I checked in and dumped my bags into the room, we went for coffee. The first thing we came across was a Starbucks and luckily Lobke didn’t mind going there. We started talking and before we knew it, it was dark and 5.30PM. So we decided to go for dinner in the Temple Bar district. Lobke had never.. never.. NEVER… been to a Hard Rock restaurant, so I felt obligated to rid her of that ‘virgin’- status. Because it was relatively early we had no problem getting a table. We had dinner and some mocktails and chatted some more haha. We were both pretty tired from traveling (and I hadn’t slept well the night before) so we called it an early night. At the hostel we did a little bit of planning for the day after and went to bed.

On Friday we went for breakfast at Starbucks around 10.30AM. We talk too much and left there around 12.30PM. We went to Trinity college first. Because you have to pay to get into the library, I found a bench to hang out on while Lobke went in. After Trinity we did a tour of Dublin Castle. This was nice to see, but I have to say I’ve seen more impressive castles. It’s in the middle of the city and it’s a partial ruin. We went for a coffee after and to the hostel to freshen up before dinner. We went to the Shack, traditional Irish restaurant in the Temple Bar district. We both had cottage pie, which is mince and vegetables covered with mashed potatoes. The Temple Bar was after. There was live music so it was pretty packed. We somehow made our way to the front and had a view of the performers. They played some traditional Irish music, but also some more mainstream music. We had some drinks, sang some songs, met some new people and had a very good night ;) eh Lobke!

On Saturday we woke up pretty early and didn’t have a great night’s sleep. There was a snorer in our room, that was RI-DI-CU-LOUS! Lobke poked him twice, but he still managed to fall asleep before us every time! So we needed some coffee in the morning. We went to O’Briens this time. You can make your own sandwich, or in our case bagel, there and they have decent coffee. After this refueling we went to the Ha’Penny bridge, Christ Church Cathedral and Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. We only went into Saint Patricks, because both require an entrance fee. After this we went for a donut in this shop close to the hostel and went for a nap. We. Were. TIRED. And since we wanted to go out again and yeah Lobke is already 30 haha, it was needed! When the powernap did it’s job we went for dinner at Milano’s and had a pizza. After dinner we went to the Temple Bar again and met some of the guys we met the day before, so we hung out with them again. We went to another pub called Foggy Dew and had another goooooood night ;)! Because the Irish start pretty early, the nights are never that late. This time we were at the hostel around 1.

Sunday I had to check out and Lobke had to change rooms for the last night. We went for breakfast at Starbucks again and talked about our adventures the last two nights haha (Joris de draak en Thomas de trein haha Lobke, die schoot me net binnen). Because it was raining and we saw pretty much all the touristy stuff, we decided to do some shopping. For dinner we went Greek this time and went back to the hostel for a bit. I had to take the tram to the train station around 8.15PM. It was sad again saying good bye, especially since the weekend flew by and it was a lot of fun! I really appreciate it when people come over :D. So after the good bye and some pictures in every state of me sitting down, I went to the train station. I had the train at 9PM and walked home after a GREAT WEEKEND!

That’s it again for another week!
