Getting back into the swing of things was a little harder than I thought it would be. I had so much fun with Lobke the last weekend, that it made me miss all the things from home. Monday and Tuesday I had to work all day. On Wednesday I was off and so was Ayleen!! I slept in a bit and we went downtown together. We had lunch and walked around for a bit. It was nice and I had fun!
Thursday was a normal working day, as well as Friday. The only thing that was different on Friday was that I tripped on one of the Duplo blocks. I sprained my ankle and I could barely hold in the anger and a little pain that came with that. To set the tone a bit, I asked Iarlaith to tidy them up like three times and he was being a cheeky boy. Anyway.. My ankle really hurt! It got thick and it hurt with walking. And weirdly, I got a bruise on both sides of my ankle. Yeah.. if I do it, I do it right! It got a little better in the evening, so I went downtown with a couple of other au pairs (Ana, Barbara and Irati) to have dinner. We went fancy and went to McDonalds haha. It was fun and we had a lot of laughs !
On Saturday I went to the gym at 10.30, yeah I’m THAT commited with a sprained ankle and all. It did get me out of running and burpees, so I was good. I went to lunch after with Ayleen, Laurel, Hannah and Anna at Springfort Hall Café. We went all out! Besides a sandwich, we had a cupcake as well! :O After lunch we met up with Ana and Barbara at the cinema to see Sing. It was such a funny movie! We walked around for a bit, did some shopping and went home around 17.00. Ayleen came over for pizza and we watched some movies. It was a good day!
On Sunday we went to Limerick for shopping. There was this shopping centre that was supposed to be pretty good. I think you can compare it to the M2 times 3 haha. But it’s an indoor mall just like that one. We went to EVERY SHOP and I bought a pair of earrings. I was soooo excited, but nothing fitted. After we got back to Mallow, Laurel, Ayleen, Hannah and I went for dinner at Soos. We convinced Ayleen to give Asian food another try, although what she ordered was far from Asian haha. It was again a fun day!
Another week!
Monday the 6th I had a normal day of work and I skyped with the parents after. Always fun to catch up, them of everything here and me with all the lives back home. On Tuesday I had normal working hours again. In the afternoon though Kevin took the boys to Crossfit and I just had Fiadh. She was still asleep, so I took the opportunity to go downtown to the post office. She slept the whole way :O. I just dropped some stamps at Ayleen’s and she woke up. She also pretty much immediately started hungry-crying, so I hurried home to give her a bottle. After that she was grand again and we watched some TV together, until Kevin came home. In the evening I skyped with Katty. It’s so funny that we have managed to keep in touch all these years. We don’t let time differences and Skype stop us haha. We caught up again and I went to bed around 1AM.
Wednesday I had a day off again. I went downtown around 10.45 and went to Springfort Hall Café for a coffee. I sat there for about 1,5 hours just reading. I got some stuff for lunch and had lunch back at the house. I read some more and watched some Netflix, until 3.30 when I went to the gym. In the evening I went to Alberts with Ayleen. The group is getting smaller and smaller, but we still had a nice chat and a drink haha. Thursday and Friday were normal working days.
Saturday Ayleen and I went downtown in the morning. In the evening we had made plans to go to dinner and a movie with some of the other au pairs. We went to Bella’s Café for dinner. This restaurant is a BYO, so in the morning I bought some white wine. I carefully placed that in the fridge, but unfortunately it vanished before dinner. Kevin took that one by mistake to a party, thinking Katie bought it. So I texted Katie to enjoy the wine haha and bought some more before dinner at 7. Lara, Natalia, Ana, Barbara and Laurel met us for dinner. The movie choice was a little divided. Laurel and I did NOT want to see ‘Fifty shades darker’, so we decided to go to ‘Split’ instead. The movie was pretty good! And we met the others for drinks after they had their soft porn movie hahaha. Apparently there were a couple of drunks women in the audience that screamed ‘I love you Christian’ when he made his first appearance in the movie. Hilarious! We went for drinks at Ocanas, which I found out has some pretty good and pretty awful cocktails! We had a good night and ended up staying until it closed. Playing never-have-I-ever helps. We had some fries on the way home.
On Sunday I went to Cork with Ayleen and Lara. We went to some shops (this time I actually bought some clothes.. among other things), had some Starbucks and went for dinner at Nando’s.
Monday came around again and so did Katie and Kevin’s stretching class. This means I have Conaill, Iarlaith and Fiadh for about 2 hours. I don’t mind haha, cause it gives me some more cuddle time with Fiadh. Only this time she did a little more screaming than I would have liked haha. But I can’t complain, the boys were good, she was good most of the time and when Kevin and Katie were home, I was off again. I went downtown for a bit again, had a lovely red velvet cupcake at a bakery and did some reading.
Tuesday was a start like in the beginning, when Katie was still working. Kevin and Katie were going away for 2 days for Valentine’s Day. I started at 8.30 and would have the boys until Wednesday evening. Fiadh was taken to Kevin’s parents. The day went by per usual. Around 6, after Naoise went to soccer, Ayleen came over. We ordered pizza, our lovely dates, and we had them in peace. I mean: no one asked ONCE to have some, came over or asked anything from the time the pizza was delivered to the time the leftovers were in the bin. Iarlaith and Conaill were glued to the iPad. It was so funny! I already warned Ayleen to be prepared for some desperate pleas for a little tini tiny bit. Nothing! It was like we didn’t have anything at all haha. So we enjoyed our pizza and after we took the boys upstairs. I put them to bed. With Iarlaith it might have taken a bit longer, couple of tears, some screaming, but he went to sleep pretty fast. Naoise came home around 7.30. Ayleen and I watched a sappy Nicolas Sparks movie, the Choice, not that good. But the chocolate, cookies, candy and coke made it a lot better.
On Wednesday I set my alarm for 7.15. Katie said the boys usually are awake or woken up by 7.30. At 7.10 I heard footsteps. I went upstairs and Naoise and Conaill were wide awake haha. Also Naoise was quite surprised I slept in my own room. He asked where I slept and when I said ‘my room’, his face kinda went like ‘hmm.. okay’. Probably one of those you-had-to-be-there-kinda-things :P. I went into Iarlaith’s room, but there was snoring. I left him be and took the others downstairs for breakfast. The boys were so good and fast, that we had time to play some memory before Naoise had to go to school. When I send him on his way, I heard ‘Lottieeeeeee’ upstairs. Iarlaith was awake and sitting at the top of the stairs, waiting. Such a cutie! So I got him dressed and we went downstairs again for his breakfast. When Katie rang to chat to the boys, they were clothed, fed and the teeth were brushed. I was pretty proud of myself. Now me.. not dressed, not fed and only had a bit of coffee. So after the call, I went upstairs to get ready. Felt like such a single mom hahaha. I had a good day with the boys and around 6PM Katie and Kevin got back. They had a lovely time and so did I. It flew by! In the evening I went to Alberts.
Thursday and Friday I was off again. On Thursday Ayleen was off too, so we went downtown in the morning. We did some shopping and got some stuff for lunch. In the afternoon I watched some Netflix and went to the gym at 3. Tadgh thought it was necessary to do some running. The rounds were: 10 squads with a kettle bell, 10 laps (up and down the gym), 9 squads, 9 laps, etc. until 1. I thought I was gonna vomit! The only responds I got to that was ‘good’ haha. It was a good session afterwards, although the stairs were a little troublesome the rest of the day.
The weekend planning was Killarney. We had such a good time there last time, that we wanted to go again! So this weekend we were going to Killarney. We in this story is: Ayleen, Ana, Barbara, Lara, Anna, Hannah, Hannah’s friend Annika, Natalia and I. We took the bus at 13.20. It took about an hour to get there. Ayleen wanted to go to a shopping centre thing near the station, so we went there first. Near the entrance was a woman selling cupcakes, so we HAD to get one. I got red velvet! Jammie! After some shopping there, we had a coffee at Costa. Penny’s was next, before heading to the hostel. We went for dinner at 6.30PM at Milano’s (pizza !) and went back to the hostel after. We had some pre-drinks there, chatted, played ‘never-have-I-ever’ and listened to my awesome ‘Oldies’-playlist. Around 10 we went to a pub called ‘Killarney Grand’. We went there last time, it’s a pub in the front and a club in the back. We had a great time, there were quite some people and good music. It took a turn for the bad when Ayleen fell down and hurt her knee. I didn’t see how it happened, but she landed most unfortunate. Her patella (knieschijf) was dislocated. You could already see it, didn’t have to be doctor for that. I got help from the staff, who called a cab for us. He took Ayleen, Ana, Barbara and me to the hospital. We had to go to Tralee, which is a 30 min ride. They helped us really quick there and within 2 hours Ayleen was in a cast, with her patella back into place. Because it was 4AM, we couldn’t really go back to the hostel or anything. The doctor suggested we stay in the hospital until someone could pick us up in the morning. So this meant a couple more hours on the uncomfortable chairs in the A&E (hospital emergency department). Around 7 AM Ayleen called her hostmom and her sister would come and pick us up. Because Tralee is 1,5 hours away from Mallow, we had to wait some more. Around 9AM Michelle, the sister, picked us up. We made a quick stop at the hostel to get our bags and return the key to the room. Around 11 we were back in Mallow. Not quite the weekend we had in mind. Ayleen is okay though and has to go back to the doctors on Tuesday, hoping she’ll get a brace. There was mention of 6 weeks of a cast :O.
Well.. this time I have to end the blog on a sad note. More happy stories soon!

Liane:
Hoi mop, weer heel veel beleefd! De tijd wordt goed benut.
Vervelend voor ayleen. Hopelijk verloopt het herstel voorspoedig. Maar ze zal even moeilijk vooruit kunnen.
Werk ze en geniet! Leuke foto's by the wat!
